The R.E.S.P.E.C.T. program is a specialized empowerment series, designed for youth ages 10 to 25, covering a variety of topics including but not limited to developing and maintaining respect as a minority within the dominant culture, discipline, vision, focus, roles & responsibilities, overcoming challenges, communication, pursuing one's goals, creating opportunities for success and developing positive relationships with peers and adults.
Discipline and respect are the foundation of all sessions. The success of this program is attributed to its mission to understanding diversity and to provide character-building tools that are essential in reducing conflict, self-destructing attitudes and behavior, improving school performance and peer relationships, and creating leadership and motivation for change by...
* Increasing individual awareness,
* Improving decision-making capabilities,
* Encouraging analytical thinking, and
* Elevating self-esteem.
The participants demonstrate their success by their knowledge of the tools needed to enhance leadership and to overcome complex situations at home, in the community and in society as a whole.
A combination of scientific, research-based methods and principles produce a practical and commonsense approach to successful living and induce life-long learning with a focus on specific areas such as: personal empowerment, growth and development, meeting challenges, setting priorities, enhancing communication, and decision making.
This program emphasizes the resolve needed to recognize and overcome obstacles, and then how to reach the highest level of creative discipline. The facilitators use questions that arouse curiosity and at the same time serve as a logical, incremental guide that enables participants to figure out a complex issue with their own thinking and insights. R.E.S.P.E.C.T. uses a fully researched, state-based drug and alcohol intervention treatment model dedicated to improving the lives of participants adversely affected by alcohol and other substance abuse.
Seven principles of Mind Power are taught which reveal how to define goals, take focused action, gauge results and adjust behavior until those goals are achieved. Finally, this program offers powerful lessons in personal change. It offers remarkable insights into how to lead and manage one’s life so as to become highly effective.
The value of using the R.E.S.P.E.C.T. program long term is for participants to be able to complete the three developmental phases of the program:
Phase One - The first ten weeks involves the introduction of the principles of R.E.S.P.E.C.T., the establishment of rapport between the participants and the presenters, and the participants’ recognition of the presenters as male/female role models of R.E.S.P.E.C.T. through the presenters’ language, appearance, attitude, self-discipline, consistency and genuine concern for the students’ elevation---academically, socially and behaviorally.
Phase Two - The next 15-20 weeks represents the internalization of the concepts learned in Phase One.
Phase Three involves the transformation of the principles from the classroom to home, school and community. This phase involves a life-long transition.
