This exciting dramatization is educational in focus and historical in content. It is designed to stir the emotions and elevate the consciousness of its audience. This presentation will cover African American history from pre-slavery through present day and beyond. It highlights excerpts from the famous "I Have a Dream" speech and other significant contributions of the time. Due to the interactive nature of this production, the presenting time of two hours goes by very quickly with its rollercoaster of events. Although this high-energy, informative presentation is preferred in the month of February, it is not limited to that month. We promote the idea that black history should be celebrated 365 days a year. After experiencing this production, your audience will never be the same.
"Last night, my family and I were treated to one of the best stage productions I have ever witnessed. It was heart wrenching, funny, and stimulating. NO it was not "Madea Goes to Jail" but a play produced and directed by a local theatrical MASTERMIND, the name of the production is, 'I Have a Dream: The NeXt Generation'. It is a privileged look at Black History never felt so good! Marcus Gentry is the producer and Director of this dramatic interpretation and his cast is phenomenal! The lives of Huey P. Newton, Angela Davis, and Malcolm X just to name a few, are not only re-lived but transformed into modern day apparatus' of knowledge and information. The role of Dr. Martin Luther King provides the audience with a soul shattering remembrance of the man and his dream. This production was in a word... AWESOME!! It shapes the minds of those in middle school, and refreshes the memory of those from the "old school". As we continue to search for our Fathers and recall our History, we should use what ever resources we have available and "The NeXt Generation" is that resource. I encourage of you to book this production for your middle school, high school, college, church, or community organization. We NEED to continue our roots. We need to continue to educate our youth. We need to CONTINUE! It's Black History 365!! "
I think that the play was fun but... at the same time, educational. I'd love to see it again and I liked it so much that I'm going to go to Lamont's Barber Shop because he said, "if you want to be successful, hang with successful people". I hope one day I can be successful like Lamont. I think Lamont and his crew can be the next Tyler Perry. I went to Lamont's Barber shop and it was so much positive talking, I'm going to back. Thank you a lot, maybe one day I can be in one of your plays.
